BEING an artist consists of
the abstinence of to want to make art,
to create something better than art :

This statement is only clear
if one understands, that the question
"what is art" itself is doomed.

Because the question, what art is, can only be a reflection about
what art HAS BEEN, since every art that can be deliberated about is one that has already existed.

But to apply yesterday's standards to the tomorrow
means to murder the future
to praise the past,
but at the same time to ignore
that this past once was the very future
that has created itself out of overcoming its own past.

Because the continuation of yesterday gets lost in imitation and variation.
Only in bringing in the tomorrow, via inspiration and creation,
one creates oneself in ones work. And this work IS art because of that creation,
and at last tells the viewer, what art HAS BEEN.

Since

the abstinence of to want to make art,
to create something better than art :
